When the team at Auslan Services gathered for their annual get-together, they were looking for more than just another meeting. They wanted connection, shared energy, and a way to shake off the stresses of the year while strengthening their team spirit. Enter Laughter Yoga.

At first, there were a few raised eyebrows (as there always are). The usual internal dialogue of, “Hang on, I’m just supposed to laugh… for no reason?” But that skepticism didn’t last long. Through a series of playful exercises, eye contact, and the sheer contagiousness of laughter, the room quickly filled with joy. What a joy it was to have the interpreters create their own laughs—in sign language! It wasn’t long before we had full-bodied belly laughs, happy tears, and a renewed sense of energy.

Laughter Yoga in Sign-Language?

We set them the challenge and they met it – create your own customised laughter yoga with sign language (customising laughter yoga session for your team is one of our specialties) – and they did!

And what a joy it was laughter come alive in sign language. For instance, we developed a ‘silent giggle’ where participants mimed a deep belly laugh, exaggerating their expressions, making it both visually engaging and irresistibly contagious!

The Takeaway? Laughter is a Team Superpower

Bringing teams together isn’t just about meetings and strategy—it’s about shared experiences that strengthen bonds. Laughter Yoga does exactly that. It creates an environment where people can be themselves, let their guards down, and walk away feeling refreshed.

To the incredible team at Auslan Services—thank you for bringing your energy, enthusiasm, and willingness to step outside your comfort zone. A special thank you to Ryan Gook, co-founder of Auslan Services, for his support and enthusiasm in making this session happen. Your work is deeply impactful, and I hope this session gave you a well-deserved moment of joy.

And to anyone else considering how to boost team morale, foster connection, or just inject some fun into their workplace—give Laughter Yoga a try. You won’t regret it.

Keep laughing!
